Most people have never smelled real narcissus. What’s used in nearly every fragrance that lists it is a synthetic reconstruction — because the true flower yields almost nothing. It takes an enormous quantity of blooms just to produce a small amount of genuine oil, which is why authentic narcissus attar is one of the most difficult and expensive florals to source in the world.

It opens green and hay-like, almost narcotic in its sweetness, before settling into a strange, animalic depth that no reconstruction can replicate. It’s unlike anything else in natural perfumery — soft, but with a wildness underneath.
