FAQ

Attar, Musk, and Oud

1. What is attar?
Attar is a traditional perfume oil, alcohol-free, made by distilling flowers, woods, or spices. Worn directly on the skin, it unfolds slowly, revealing layers of warmth and complexity. Attar is prized for its intimacy and the personal, natural connection it creates with your scent.

2. What is musk?
Musk is a warm, sensual fragrance note that adds softness and depth to blends. All of our musks are thoughtfully combined with complementary notes to create intimate, comforting scents that feel personal and enveloping on the skin. Musk often serves as the “heart” of a fragrance, bringing warmth and cohesion to the composition.

3. What is oud?
Oud is a rare, resinous scent formed in agarwood and treasured for centuries. Our collection features only pure oud, sourced with care from trusted partners in Indonesia, Cambodia, Malaysia, and Thailand, with new origins soon to come. Some are wild, others organically farmed, each carrying a unique story of age and origin.

4. What’s the difference between attar, musk, and oud?

  • Attar: a natural perfume oil, alcohol-free, with a layered, intimate character.

  • Musk: a note blended with other ingredients to create soft, warm, enveloping scents.

  • Oud: a rare wood resin with a deep, smoky, and luxurious character.

5. What is black vs. white musk?
Black musk comes from the musk deer and is rare in nature. White musk is either naturally derived or synthetic. We currently offer only white musk, blended with other notes to create intimate, warm fragrances in a sustainable way.

6. How should I wear attar, musk, or oud?
Apply to pulse points, such as wrists, behind the ears, or the inner elbow, and let the fragrance unfold naturally. Layering with complementary notes can enhance the experience.

7. How long will attar, musk, or oud last, and will it smell the same on everyone?
The wear and perception of fragrance depends on each person’s skin chemistry and natural oils. A scent may unfold differently on different people — some notes may appear stronger, while others feel more subtle. This means that the same attar, musk, or oud can smell uniquely personal on every wearer, creating a truly individual fragrance experience.
